Parent Advisory Council

Parent Advisory Committee

Welcome to Forrest Parent Advisory Council section! At Forrest PAC, we believe that education is a shared responsibility between the home, the school and the community. Supportive parents/guardians, caring educators and active community members are partners in education working together for the benefit of children.

Forrest PAC has been dedicated to supporting our many Timberwolves teams with canteen services during hosted sports events throughout each school year. We are often in need of parent volunteers and baked goods for these events. As our Timberwolves rely on canteen services to allow for hosting other teams; should you have children participating in these sporting events, please let us know if you are able to help in any way!

Please see below for further details about PAC, its commitments to our school and how you can help give back to our wonderful school. Should you be interested in becoming involved or volunteering, please either contact the school office or feel free to contact me directly.

What is Parent Advisory Council?

PAC provides support with school wide initiatives such as planning, organizing and implementing events and fundraising activities. We offer advice to the school Principal and ensure to keep well informed on issues related to education within our school and division.

We have a board that consists of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary as well as, additional parent volunteers. PAC holds about 5 meetings over the course of the school year and our board may change from year to year.  PAC provides help with in-school initiatives as well as, items that fall outside of the standard curriculum such as field trip costs, school wide extra-curricular activities and family-fun events!

Roles and Responsibilities of PAC board & volunteer members:

  • Attend and actively participate in PAC meetings, events and activities

  • Provide input and suggestions to the board and vote on agenda items(if necessary)

  • Encourage the participation of parents within the school community

  • Communicate/Promote PAC initiatives within school and community

In closing, Forrest PAC knows that parents play an important role in Forrest Elementary School. Your active participation is vital to the success of both the students and school!!

Should you want to learn more or be a part of PAC, please feel free to reach out to us or attend one our meetings. (the dates are posted in the monthly newsletter as well as, on this website).

Forrest PAC has been fundraising since Spring of 2019 for an addition to our current play structure at our school.  We reached out to our community for help with achieving our goal to enable us to add a structure that would upgrade our play ground to accommodate children with special needs and occupational & Physiotherapy needs.

Community involvement is crucial for the success of any school fundraiser, but with this being a unique project that enables us to enhance our day to day activities for all children, we are truly grateful for such amazing community members that have supported this campaign.

Next year we will continue to fundraise to replace the remaining 2 basketball nets (and resurface the asphalt) so we can have 4 available basketball nets for the kids on the playground (like we used to).  The total cost to replace the remaining 2 nets and the asphalt is $33,000.  We still need to raise $25,500.  We have had a dedicated team working on grant applications to help raise the funds needed.  Any suggestions or help raising these funds are welcome.
